LOG vs The Film Look
Everything you get in the download
- PowerGrade
- LUTs + Kodak 2383 film emulation
- Usage manual
- Video tutorial covering the whole process
Is it for you?
- Footage shot in log: Sony S-Log3, Apple Log on iPhone, DJI D-Log and equivalents.
- DaVinci Resolve: the free version is enough. Studio is only needed for the grain and the glow on the B&W effect.
- Project set to DaVinci YRGB, Rec.709 (Scene), with no LUTs loaded.
- Applied on an adjustment layer, never straight onto the clip.
Six steps, always in the same order
Working order: CST → Primaries → SAT → Film assets → Contrast. The Film Look node stays untouched — it's the final signature. The manual (English and Spanish) walks you through every adjustment, with screenshots.
LOG vs The Film Look
Every node, open and editable
It isn't a closed layer: the PowerGrade comes with the full node tree, so you can see what each node does and tune it to your own footage.

Kodak 2383 emulation
The final look is built on a Kodak 2383 emulation: color density, highlight rolloff, halation and grain.
Everything runs through a proper CST, so it works with any camera that shoots log — your phone included.
The LUTs work for you too
The PowerGrade installs in DaVinci Resolve, but the LUTs included work in Premiere, Final Cut, CapCut or any editor that accepts .cube files.
The free version of Resolve is enough for the full grade; only a few specific effects ask for Studio.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work with footage I shoot on my phone?
Yes, as long as you shoot in log. Most phones — Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi — can do it (on iPhone it's Apple Log).
Is this just a LUT?
No. A LUT is a closed layer. Here you open every node, see what it does and change it.
Which version of Resolve do I need?
The free version is all you need. Studio (the paid one) only comes in for specific effects like the grain or the luminosity in the B&W effect.
What if I get stuck?
Write to me and we'll work it out. Between the manual and the tutorial there shouldn't be any doubts left, but if there are, we can sort them together.
If a new version comes out, do I have to pay again?
No. PowerGrade updates reach you at no cost, and you'll be notified whenever anything changes.
